Sorry chris, I've misunderstood you when you said "weed on a pond".. My mind went to something else Yes, I think it's called blanket weed. I only knew it's some sort of alga. And the water isn't exactly a pond but sewage treatment works.. which explains the occurence of algae.

This one is from the same place. This bird is smart. She built the nest on the water.. no predators (humans?) can get to it the easy way..
