Comparing Forums.

Hello,

I want to know your thoughts about the php forum that is easiest to integrate with an existing CMS and a user base. I would ideally love a single login table if that is possible.
I am checking into vanilla.
Please let me know your thoughts on that and others?

The main thing to look for is compatability of how to username and especially password is stored. If your CMS stores passwords in plaintext in database, then you should probably use forum that stores passwords as plaintext. If you store passwords hashed, then use the forum that also stores passwords hashed and uses the same hash method.

This is not 100% necessary but will probably make life easier for you later on, when you want to integrate the same login method, the same forgotten password retreival form, the same 'change password' form.

Other than that it would probably be helpful to use the same templating engine for forum and your CMS.

Hi Sharedlog I like your point.
I would like some concrete names which I could explore. The client has no specific requirement for the forum except moderation and same password field.
