Where can I find the cheapest place to start out with to accept credit cards? Currently like others I dont need a merchant account. Basically I would like to find someone who doesn't have a setup or monthly fee, I wouldn't mind paying up to 12%/transaction.
The products that I am going to sell are web-based and not physical.
These are samples of how I would be selling products, and like I said the products are not physical. I checked out one service a while back called ccbill.com, but now they raised their percentage.
I have also looked into clickbank, but they have a low rate that I would probally fall into, like $100.00.

I would recommend ClickBank.com, I use them myself. Their customer service is excellent, and I have had nothing but good experiences in using them for over a year.
Their fee is,
(a) One $50 for setup - one time only
(b) One $1 + 7.5% of each transaction
And yes they have free affiliate tracking. If you want this - then the package is a bargain - Cos most affiliate networks charge you 20% or 30% commission on the commission you pay affiliates, plus a setup fee of their own.
Well, ClickBank sure sounds good. I've also heard good things about http://www.verisign.com - they're one of the leaders in this industry I believe, and are (from what I've heard) large enough that it's highly unlikely that they'll flake on you.
I'd give ClickBank a go first, if only because of the two glowing reviews it's been given.
I will give clickbank a try and see how good they really are. I appricated everyone's reply to my post and if anyone knows any other cc companies like the one I am looking for then feel free to let me know.
I have a Charge.com merchant account, and find them to be great for what I needed. But that's more expensive then using someone elses merchant account (AKA: clickbank). Anothers like ClickBank include InstaBill (www.instabill.com) and CCSlide (www.ccslide.com), which are good if you don't want to pay all the monthly bills that come with a real merchant account.
Very helpful information above. I found the website www.paypal.com. They offer a web tool that accepts credit cards. Has anyone had any experience with them? They seem very reasonable and I don't think that the party paying by credit card needs to have a paypal account? The cost is 1.9% per transaction.
Re: Paypal - as I understand it the buyer does need to sign up to paypal for it to work - which I think would put alot of people off - it's extra steps to go through.
Also it only works if you have an American credit card - no good for us limeys!
Hi, I just looked at clickbank.com but I have one question. I will be selling my product to Canadians and I use Canadian dollars, so charges must be made to their credit card in Canadian dollars. Do you know of any companies that allow Canadian processing or let you charge in any currency? Thanks a lot!
Credit Card companies should be able to provide their customers automatic currency exchange. Its not like they have to issue you a different credit card for each country you plan to travel to.
Price your stuff in similar american dollars and let the credit cards convert currency for you.
