    register/login script no DBase

    Hi All,

does anybody know a PHP script that allows users to register and login BUT without database support. I googled it but haven't found any good...

Maybe one of you are already using one so you can recommend.
    Thanks a lot!

What about using SQLite? Or are you purposely trying to not use a database?

SQLite uses a file on the local filesystem to store all the data, this way you get all of the benefits of using an RDBMS without a server.

If you still don't want to use a database, you could create a basic text file (located outside of www root) to store user credentials.

Personally, I'd go the SQLite route.

How do you want to proceed?

Unfortunately, the point is not at "I don't want to use a DB", but I CAN NOT USE a DB!
I was thinking about to write a script that reads/writes to a .txt file with usernames and passwords but I don't have the time as I need to set up the site as soon as possible and I have to do the design as well...

A simple register (username, password, password again, email, email again), login (username, password, forgot password) page, the headers, footers and the rest of the content is static html. Is this possible with no database support?

Sure, but just so we're clear ( ) why exactly can't you use a database?

How many users are you expecting?

There's NO database support at the hosting company - but doesn't matter : the point is to create/find such a script.
    I'm expecting around 200-300 users.

I know you might feel I'm flogging a dead horse here, bear with me, but this is the exact reason SQLite was developed.

It allows you to have a database without a server.

A quick Google for PHP SQLite Login Script turned up this.

Using a text file for that many users, which may have 50%+ accessing that file at a time, may prove to have unexpected consequences.

Take 10-15 minutes out to read up on SQLite, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I found a really good register/login script which does not require any type of server database :

    Energon

It's really OK, open source, simple and flexible. Just wanted to let you know.
The script can handle my issues, however I have to consider to use a MySql database but there's no support for that at the hosting company. Is it possible to connect to a database at an external MySql server?
