I just bought a new Nokia phone and want to transfer my old contacts to my new phone, which I can easily connect to my computer via USB cable or bluetooth. My old one can connect via IrDA (infra-red) or USB. I have a USB cable but it's not OEM and it seems to not work. I used to be able to use the IrDA port on my old laptop but that's died now.
My current laptop has an IrDA port (seems to be called CIR now though, "Consumer Infra-Red") but according to the manufacturer, Fujitsu, it is only limited to the remote control (which is a nifty little addition to the laptop).
This seems like a waste of an IR port! Why limit it only to being a receiver of a single device? More importantly, does anyone have any idea whether I could expand its capabilities? There seems to be precious little info on the internet, particularly pertaining to this laptop (Amilo Xi 3650). Any ideas?
