problems with Opera 5 and absolute positioning?

I'm trying to keep from using tables and the current project I'm working on has all absolutely positioned DIVs. I decided on absolute positioning to keep some of the layers lined up with each other. Any deviation will screw up the layout.

Anyway, it looks ok in IE 5, 5.5 and NN6 but fails spectacularly on Opera 5. Some of the nested DIVs shift a few pixels off.

Isn't absolute positioning precisely that, DIVs positioned with pixel precision? And isn't this positioning widely supported by almost all browsers (No, I'm not designing with NN4 in mind).

Or am I missing something with nested absolutely positioned DIVs?

Have you tried your site in Opera 6? That might fix the problem. Also be aware that Opera adds a margin to the page even if you set margin: 0px in your CSS for the body tag - to properly kill off page margins in Opera you need to set padding: 0px as well.

Also have you got a URL so we can have a poke around?
