We are a web site/ecommerce solution developer based in Manila. Our clients are mainly based here, as well, though we also have clients in Asia and the U.S.

For ecommerce payment gateways, we are using a combination of Verisign SSL and Cybercash, as well as First Ecom, though we are looking for other gateway and security systems (SSL) providers.

Our main problem is the banks. We have 6 clients with web sites ready to go, but have yet to be able to obtain an Internet Merchant Account for them. A First Ecom recommendation, First Atlantic Commerce Bank of Bermuda, seemed promising at first, but has been slow to respond. The local banks here don't get it yet, so we are searching. Does anyone know an aggressive acquirer of I/N merchants? We have cleints for them right now!

Thanks for any and all advice/help.

I've been able to find banks for clients through the Authorizenet.com. They are specifically a web network, so they are comfortable giving merchant accounts to web businesses with no history.

They are a global network, so I assume that there would be also no problem with the various countries you are dealing with.

    Try http://www.paritate.lv

They don't openly advertise it, but they do them, or did in the past. A last resort if you can't get one closer to home. Does not have all the options a high street bank might offer, but might work out cheaper.

Most 'merchant account providers' want to lock you into 'hire-purchasing' (ha!) their software, or using their secure website, or shopping cart. You don't need any of that to being with. You can get them later. You just need to get a merchant account that http://www.ibill.com or http://www.authorize.net can hook up with.
Paritate *isn't* one of these, but it has compensating features.

    Dear Tiger Tom,

Thanks for your response to my inquiry about merchant accounts. A second reply also mentioned authorize.net, so I will try them first, but will also look at paritate and ibill, as well.

    Your help is much appreciated.

    Regards,
    Mike
