You could add advertising to the pages where your domains link too, or perhaps you could sell them on, if they are good domains that other people may want you could even auction them at somewhere like SEDO.

Better sell them or get them expired. No need to renew as you are not using them any more.

    Good luck.

How does a parked domain rise in PR? I thought it would just be 'dead'.

The parked domains I have come across are full of adverts for the domain registrars - is it through this advertising that they increase in rank?

If so why not benefit from the advertising yourself as a previous poster said. Place affiliate or adsense ads..better than just letting it sit there until it expires.

I had a few domains I didn't bother with and I probably won't renew them but have recently put ads on them, who knows they may bring in some money and I will renew! ha!

If those domain names have good traffic I suppose you can redirect them to the main web site you have. I suppose that should improve your SE rankings

Next time you have money to burn, pop it in the mail to me!

Translation: Why in the world would you buy (lease) a domain name with no idea what to do with it?

For some - it's pure speculation. However, not all buy domains and hope to resell in the aftermarket.

Some - like myself - buy out of a pure motive to actually use them - for later when they get around to it. Then life catches up and they find that other things fill up that free time and then they weigh their priorities and decide later to let those projects fall off the map. (Wow, I may have just revealed a lot about myself here.....)

But I have to agree that if 1 buys a name with NO IDEA what to do with it - that's like throwing $$ away.

Always have a plan or a real reason when deciding on buying a domain.

I buy domains when I get inspired for a new project and then like many others get too busy and better ideas come along!

I have been doing some digging into parking domains and they can be parked on certain sites and you can earn some money in advertising revenue.. also you can list your domain for sale on these sites and they take a percentage of the sale.

Whilst on these sites your domain attracts traffic so I guess theoretically it can increase in PR.

There is no theoretically about it. Domains don't have any PR ever and so nothing you do with them will ever gain any PR for the pages.

Web pages have PR which they get from the other web pages that link to them.

I dont see the reason why you wont make money from other domains. Its all on how you promote your site, and what all things you do with your site.
