    Microsoft, huh and Win7

    What is the Windows XP Mode? for Windows 7?
    Also you can't upgrade Windows 7 from Windows XP so then why are they calling it a upgrade ?!?!? You basically have to do a new install of Windows 7.

    That should give a basic overview of it.

    As to why you cannot do an in place upgrade of Windows 7 over Windows XP...I don't know. But a clean install from that archaic version is the best thing you can do for your computer. Going from a previous version of [insert-name] to a newer version is called an upgrade, regardless of how it is done.

    I think Windows 7 runs on a different file system that why... not sure though.
