    rss

    I know....there are loads of resources around, however one simple thing that i dont find the answer to is...

    I can pull info down from a database to populate the rss....if i add a new entry to the db will it automatically appear in regular feed readers?

    If your rss is created dynamically from the database, then yes it will have new results after you update the database table but only if the client does not cache the previous result.

    I personally would not recommend having rss feed created dynamically from the database. I would create a static .rss file and then have some way of updating that file when the new record is added to the database.

    I always just create the feeds on fly from the database, I don't store any static rss files. You would also have to store multiple files for RSS 1.0, RSS 2.0, Atom etc.
