    Protect email address

I have seen several ideas to do this but the ideas are somewhat old (2006?) and was wondering if there is an up-to-date method of protecting the mailto: address in the HTML. I suspect javascript is no good if the visitor has js turned off in the browser.

The only way to protect your email address is to use a form.

Presumably you mean one generated on the server and not by javascript?

Yes, using some server side language such as PHP where your email address is hidden via the server code.

Basically, yes. The email address would be stored on the server-side (either within a mail form script or a database) and would never be seen by the user unless they request a carbon copy.
