    Talking Do you checkout Signatures?

How many of you are curious enough to visit the links in the signature?

If it looks interesting and not spammy I will. The mods often have some pretty good sites on the go that are worth looking at.

I usually just look up links in signatures of users who write interesting/informative/compelling posts, or are in some other way intriguing to me.

Probably because the link text is obviously an ad for the page in question. If you rewrote the text to read something like " How to Safely Increase Your Site Traffic and AdSense Earnings " you'd probably see a noticable increase in your click-through rates. (Right now it reads "Get 1000+ Free Traffic Everyday ! - Adsense Safe- ")

I think it would look better with the smileys I added (you may have to refresh this thread). That and a nice dark (but not too dark) green may help too. The red is too flashy and reads "Danger! Scam!" to me - but that's just me. The green, IMHO would be far more inviting.

It looks a lot better now
And of course I would like it if others visit my site. And if they happen to look for a flash slideshow, or for an explanation of how to add their WP plugin to the WP plugin library, they might do so. Otherwise, they won't.
But you asked a question, and I gave my answer. And I almost never visit signature links. Sometimes I do. When they look interesting.

Well, at least you're honest about your intentions...

Just as a reminder, I'll tell you that the guidelines say that you can't ask anyone to visit your site

Anyway, asking people to visit your site is just annoying, no matter how nice you can be about it. Everybody wants the same... sort of. My signatures are there, but I don't expect anyone to visit the sites, except for Sitepoint links which I add them in case that anyone has questions about what they can or cannot do in the forum.

It depends on how bored I am. Sometimes the site that happens to be open is the forum and I read a signature and go, "hm.... why not?"

I don't go out of my way to, but I click on links that seem interesting.

I also click on the "Visit XXX's homapage!" links of people I'm curious about.

I look at signatures, and can instantly tell if they are spammy, or if they are useful links that would tell me more about the person who wrote the post.

If they are spammy (in my opinion), ie "real estate foreclosures", "increase your adsense earnings", "ways to make money online" etc, it affects my opinion of what was in the post.

I don't generally follow the links in signatures, unless they are of the non-spammy variety, ie "follow me on Twitter", someone's blog, pet projects like a free wordpress widget, etc, and I am interested in finding out more about someone.
