Not likely, but in some cases it is possible to predict future rankings. On two different occassions I was able to predict a #1 ranking on Google a month in advance. But my site was already listed so I knew exactly how much I had to improve to get to #1.

In directories however its pretty easy to do usually.

No, I do not think there is such a tool. You can try and predict yourself though.

I'd recommend rolling a pair of dice, that's about as scientific as you can get with this sort of thing :-)

To Forecast Where Your Site Will Rank On Google Just Count Your Backward Links

    Hello Gavin,

There is no such tool, nor will there ever be one, in our humble opinion of course.

But, you can take an educated guess at where your page will rank in Google (the world's #1 search engine) by simply counting all of the Backward Links that contain your keyword phrase and then comparing it to the top ranked pages currently in Google.

While SEO is not an exact science, and not as simple as just counting Backward Links to know your initial rankings, you can somewhat calculate whether your page will be optimized enough to rank in the Top 10 or the Top 1000.

Since other search engines use a different algorithm than Google does, this particular method may not apply.

    Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

I guess I will have to wait and see.
