    Question Connecting a domain name to my amazon EC2 instance?

    Do I just use CNAME and put the public DNS url in there?

    You could. Or create an A record pointing to the elastic IP address assigned to the instance.

    Elastic IPs are free, so there's no reason not to get one. It lets you reassign one IP to any instance, so that you don't have to change your DNS every time you stop/start the instance.

    $0.01 per hour when you have an IP allocated but not assigned to any instance.
