The admin area is supposed to load faster in 2.8. I hope that's true because 2.7 is super-slow for me on the back-end.

That seemed like the most pointless thing of all. I don't really see any point in it. Do you actually edit your theme in the admin panel?

I agree it is a bit pointless, and personally I don't do any theme editing in the admin unless I'm adding to my CSS file, perhaps to style a new one-off feature section or something similar.

I could imagine it being more useful for people who only dabble with code, and as such perhaps don't have a full wp install on their localhost.

This is better especially when your using free account only. Loading starts to slowdown when your account is full of content already.
