What you do in the initial stage of a project?

    Hi,

Let's say you got a new project, how would you handle it?

Please share your ideas, this is what I will do.

    • Sit with the client and discuss all the requirements,
    • Design some charts etc using MS Visio
    • Discuss the charts etc with client
    • Finalize them
    • Start working on the project
    • Get client's feedback in the middle

    What would you do?

    Thanks

You missed out on a very important point - Research..

Once you have had your initial sitting with the client, you need to carry out a detail research on the client's requirements, technical feasibility, budget and most importantly, what the competitors are doing!

At the same time, you should always think one step ahead. Try to work out ways wherein you can provide your client with something, which wont become obsolete very quickly!

I would even suggest Research before meeting the client. Ask them questions before the meeting so you can get some background.

You also missed developing the website structure, doing some early wireframes and prototypes and perhaps building a checklist of required functionality with the client to determine what pages they will need before you start generating designs or content.
