WP sitemap plugin
I know I should have posted this at the wprdpress support but while waiting for the answer there I wanted to know if sitepoint members noticed this...
I am not using this plugin but today I tried and when the sitemap was generated, it shows only the URLs of my posts. It does not generate pages for tags (which is very important)... If this is the case, this plugin is useless...
Can someone explain how deep this plugin can dig our wordpress blogs' pages?
Thanks

I tried the sitemap plug in a few times and had problems with it. When ever I tried it would list pages like the log in page or others that shouldn’t be on there and it would miss a ton of important pages.
I went to the support page on WP.org a while back and it was full of unanswered questions and bug reports. So after that I never bothered with it again.
Kind of seems like the creator never followed up on it to work the bugs out.

Just follow the instruction...
Upload the plugin to plugin folder
create 2 files and change permission of these file to 777
1. sitemap.xml
2. sitemap.xml.gz
Upload these 2 files in your blog root.
Activate plugin and crease a sitemap ...
Though it is not so accurate, it is better than nothing... especially if you are running dozens of autoblogs..

There is talk of a sitemap tool being included in the WordPress core in one of the next few releases. I'm guessing it will be in 2.9, although I also thought it would be in 2.8 but it wasn't. 3.0 is looking like being their Mu merger version so if it isn't added by then I'd guess it wouldn't be until 3.1 which is due in about nine months time.
Unfortunately that does not help your immediate problem though

Ryan, I think Matt Mullenweg mentioned 2.9 having the sitemap tool in the core for WordPress 2.9 at WordCamp Chicago this past weekend. I'd have to check over the notes to make sure though.

Anyway, I am still using a sitemap generator software for my main blog but for other adsense blogs that require less maintenance, I use this wp plugin.. let's wait for the later release if there is some improvement.

I use PS Auto Sitemap. Very easily configurable and customizable. Give it a try.
