Use of Gmail instead of Outlook?

    Hi All,

My host has the most terrible email program. Since I work on different computers I do not really want to setup outlook.

Is it possible to redirect mail to a gmail account? Gmail is IMO fantastic.

    Thanks

    /Eco

    Yes you can

Within the CPanel of the host (or something equivalent) look up Mail > Mail Forwarding. You can set up individual addresses to go through to your gmail account, or instead you can use a catch all/default routing, where any email that comes through to anything@yourdomain.com will get forwarded anywhere you want. Some hosts don't allow this though.

Or have Gmail act as a POP3 client like Outlook.

^^^Who uses POP3 when you have IMAP avaliable?

Why redirect, just switch the mail services to google apps for domains and be done with it.

Why not just point your MX records to GMail's servers and host your email for free with Google Apps http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/group/index.html

He meant getting your mail from other accounts into Gmail via POP3, not accessing your Gmail account through a client app.

I also suggest google apps. It's dead easy if you know anything about DNS. And as someone on a site about web development, you should know something about DNS.

If you don't want to switch, you may just forward all your mails to gmail a/c. Remember, the emails should not be too many else google will ban your email a/c.
