    Question Watermarking

I notice on some sites it says the graphic is watermarked, if you copy it how do you see the watermarking? Just curious about this

    Hey montroze!

A watermark not visible to the human eye on a web image is actually encoded into the graphic itself and can only be read by a watermark reader. This is mainly to protect the designer from copyright infringers and to enable him to track down any of his graphics that are being used illegitimately on the web.

The most prominent watermarking service is Digimarc® and most high-end graphic programs come with the plug-in for encoding and reading Digimarc® watermarks.

Probably your best source for complete information would be www.digimarc.com

Indeed, digital watermarks that are vertualy (if not toally) invisible to the naked eye are a fabulous technology to prtect the rights of creatives all around the world.

I read an article once that claimed that a watermark was still able to be extracted from a pretty rough scan of a lytho printed item...now that is amazing!
