    Resolving wildcard subdomains

I am looking at using subdomains for searches.

Basically I want to resolve URLs like this:
    http://ipod.example.com

    To:
    http://www.example.com/search.php?query=ipod

I want this to work with any wildcard domains.

It is just a bit of an experimental thing I have going on so I am not totally sure if I will use it. I know it is possible so I just wanted to know how it was done.

    Thanks.

you have to ask your webhosting company beccause it is generally not available to the webmasters simply, it's a setting in apache config file.

I have no trouble accessing the Apache configuration files. It's not on shared hosting.

I would advise against this from a moral point of view. I find it extremely irritating when googling for content, to be taken to another site's search listing.
