Growing Up, What did you aspire to be?

Growing up, I'm sure we all had dreams of hitting the jackpot or making it big somehow. Personally, I had the typical guy aspiration I guess - become a professional athlete. Kinda makes me wonder how I went from wanting to play sports for a living to working a 9-5 behind a computer all day

So what did YOU want to be growing up and where are you now? Nice to hear if some people out there actually achieved their dreams!

I kept hoping I was the messiah, but... well... it turned out that I was just a regular ol' kid. Oh well... my parents were upset too... wow did they have high expectations for me... well... c'est la vie...

Actually, I wanted to be just about everything: an astronaut, a pilot, a cartoonist (I've horribly failed at that), a punter (yes, the most glorious spot on the team), and voluminous other occupations, both real and imaginary (e.g., I'd like to guard Endor's tractor beam).

Well... here I am. A project manager. Oh well. It has its exciting days, I guess. It could be worse, I could be a stockbroker...

I really don't know how to answer this question, computers are the only thing I ever understood or showed any unique talent at (well I was good at science but computing is such), though sometimes I wonder if turning a hobby into a career was a wise move

Growing up I wanted to own my own business and be in control of my own destiny. I must say, this is year 2 of doing it, and I am doing better then I have ever had working for someone.

i wanted to become a pilot

in the airforce ;p

I used to play this game on sega, air force something and it drove me crazy. Anyway when i grew older, i wanted to become the richest man on earth. And still do

I just wanted to be me and answer to no one but myself,i have finally achieved this last year after setting up my own company in the UK and with my good health i am very happy with life and my chosen path in life

As a kid I wanted to grow up to be a super hero. That didn't happen. Never got hit with any cosmic radiation or anything.

I spent years pursuing my dream as a musician. Played professionally for about 10 years out on the road. Never "made it". But had a great time trying.

Now own my own company selling promotional products online. Very happy in life

As a kid, I wanted to become a teacher...Well I am now, but I'm not teaching because this online biz hooked me up so bad haha..

I always played with legos and wanted to be engineer and design things like cars. I am now a programmer which is kind of close to an engineer I guess.

Could have been worse, you could have ended up a ninja turtle and spent your days having "meetings" in a sewer with a ninja rodent

Wrote an essay about wanting to be in the Mafia in grade 7 - I thought it was kind of funny - teacher didn't and gave me a detention.

My dream is to have a job like Shigeru Miyamoto. I think my dream was shattered the day I apply for college..back then there wasn't specialized school that can realize my dream... damn it!!!!!!!

when i was like 6 or 7 yrs old, i wanted to be a lawyer. i never knew why. but hey, right now, my internet business is so much more interesting than i can ever imagine!

My family have always been soldiers. What was the one thing I didn't want to be? You guessed it; a soldier. What did I turned out to be? Yes your right again; a soldier. Not once, not twice but three times. I think if I ever seriously wanted to be anything as a child it was to be an explorer.

When I was around 8, I aspired to become a cartoonist and storyteller.

When I was around 10, I wanted to follow the family tradition and become a medical doctor, with a graduation from Cambridge like my father.

When I was around 16, I wanted to become a Philosopher and declared Sartre as my icon.

I ended up studying Latin/Greek Philology, English Literature, Philosophy, and Psychology.

I now do design and development.

I really haven't a clue whether my dreams have come true or not. I'll report back in a few decades.

i third grade i wrote an essay about how i wanted to be a paleontologist and my teacher couldn't believe i could even spell the word. one thing led to another and now im going to be a navy eye doc.
