Exclamation www.seo.net Please review prelaunch website

Hello all enthusiasts,
I have opened a small prelaunch website as a part of my multigeneration website strategy where the main customers at the moment are only SEO's.

So if you are a SEO I would appreciate if you could spend few minutes on this very small website and answer honestly following questions.
I prefer answers from SEO's since it is very targeted website at this point of life cycle

0) For how long have you been doing search engine optimization?

1) Would you recommend this website to your fellow seo's as it is in this stage?
2) If not what is the cause: (answer a, b, c or d )
a) there is to little information on the offer (I don't understand it)
b) I understand what it is but I'm missing parts to make up my mind (what)
c) I understand the idea but the concept is nothing what I find valuble
d) other. Please specify what

3) Please go through the registration process. (This is very important to me) And tell me what more would you include exclude? Did you get all mails? Could you log on without any problems?

4) What was your total experience of the registration process? (Please describe in few words and set points from 1 very bad to 7 very good)

5) Was the speed and performance good? If not what connection do you use and where are you located, if good skip the answer.

6) Other problems (misspelling, design, css problems)

I would be very grateful if you could help me out with this review. Please keep to the questions. The website is located at http://seo.net

Thanks in advance

I think the width of the site looks too large, try to reduce it. And also it looks clear and simple..

Thank you for visiting
Even if you launch a great service you are still dependent on that people know that it exists and want to try it. So we decided to give away something valuable and start with good base av members already from start.

We hope to find some enthusiast that focus on Customer Satisfaction as a part of their total business strategy.

So I'm glad that you like the offer, if there are more people then it's an indication that it's a right way to go

Thank you for visiting and your time.
Could you please be more specific with the term "width of the site looks too large"? Do you mean pixels or too many services at this stage? What would you like it to be?
Thanks in advance for your answer

I agree that the size of the site is way too big.

A good tool for checking it is " http://browsershots.org/ "

Hope this helps.

Thanks nice tip. There is a tool on seo.net where users changes between 3 different resolutions. Maybe the default one should be the smallest. Have to check in statistics what people use.
Thanks again

Edited:
Just 0,86% using are using 800x600
What resolution would you suggest?

Nice clutter free design, good usage of white space...
The white and Red color scheme is very smooth.
Good choice of images that appear in the right hand corner.

Overall, a good site.

Hi!

The JS dropdown menu should be modified to a tabbed interface.

Example:

Home | Member Gallery | SEO Chat | Advanced Member Search

"Seo" should be spelled as "SEO".

Disable the customize website option (wide, narrow, font size, color).

The site's Login box got too much icons/avatars. Keep the user interface simple and use text links or action buttons instead of icons.

The registration process is too tedious. The user should enter his/her name and email address only on the Registration page. After the registration is confirmed or validated thru email, then the member would then be directed to the profile completion page.

Site needs more keywords on the Meta Keyword tag.

Just my two cents...

Since it's only for registered users it's maybe not good to show off this options to all people

Why, this is user friendly function?

The site loads fairly slow for me on a broadband connection. The logo seems small and overshadowed by all the text and headers on the page design. Also, the registration process is highly daunting when a user looks at it. Consider breaking it up into mandatary items first and optional items second or on two pages or use Ajax for it to self build.

I went through testing the sign in process - it is really a little long. this will put people off. More than this, it also has manditory fields about things that I am unsure that people would be entirly comfprtable giving. I'm not sure I really want people to know what my favourate drink is - why do I have ti give that in order to join an SEO website?

No harm in having it - but I would not make them manditory fields.

Yes, I know that the registration is little bit hard for some people.
It will be changed as soon as beta of Rating Engine opens for public and we stop to offer premium membership for free.

Since we are offering some value for people registering we want to create some real community at the same time which is an extra value for all that will join.

There are still few people registering every week, so it can't be totally off

The meaning of the pre-launch website is to gather some members before the real website opens so that there are members registered from start and at the some time members have the Premium membership for free.

Thanks for visiting and reviewing

The registratyion process is much too difficult and normally I would have left a site if it took anything near as long as it took to register on yours. There are far too many mandatory fields. I had a particular problem with the About Me field. I'm not sure why you insist on 200 characters.

The site is not resolved for 800x600 screen res and it took me too long to find the "Log In" link as it is on the extreme right of the site.

Would a forum not be more appropriate than a chat application in the community area?

Give visitors a reason to go back to the site. After taking the time to register on the site and looking at your various pages I didn't see any reason why I should bookmark your site and return to it. Maybe you could tell me why I would return?

Excellent domain, good luck with it.

Thank you for excellent review .

I removed the 200 characters requirement.
The forum is a good point. I will add one in step two.

Are you using 800x600. I took a look at what visitors are using and there was one person that had that resolution.

I also added login link at the bottom of the page in case there are more people that have difficault to find the login.

About the reason for returning. This is a pre-launch website. The deal is that you register and receive a premium membership for free and seo.net will have already a base of members when it's time to launch the real staff. If you are interested in SEO you will have good reasons to visit this page when the Engine is online, I promise.

Thanks once more and see you around.

Don't promise me anything
but show me
Give me some information like chapter one of a ebook on seo
a few sample tools on seo (good ones, not just another tool)
such as find your site page in Google (not just the first10 pages)
Good keyword suggestion tool (better coverage than wordtracker
or overature) an ebook to explain how to check keywords
-
I just visited an SEO site that suggested they should have more keywords in their keyword meta tag (not too smart) the keyword tag is not used but by a few SE therefore the tag is for you to place the keywords you optimized the page for [so you can follow up later (a site like mine, over 200 pages, needs something to remind you what keywords you optimized the page for.)
-
I have seen many sites without a title/ and or a description tag.
-
hope this helps

Hello Falcon,

There are few print screens of the review & rating engine (the "show me") This engine is the main tool that seo.net will offer that focus customer satisfaction aspects of SEO insdusty. It is not possible to give small samples of that in other way.

We are not planing to offer any keyword suggestion tool or other tools that already exist on the internet. There are many services that are doing a good job already.

Thanks for visiting and your review.

I would agree with the posts above.... I hate horizontal scrolling sites and I'm running 1024 x768 along with 90% of the population. I would change that and perhaps the logo in the top left.... The rest of the site looks OK though and the domain is SWEET!

I checked once more the resolution and it was 1200x768. There are a tool in right upper corner for adjusting the resolution and I had wide as standard . ('narrow': 1024x768; 'wide': 1200x768; 'auto': 1400x768)
It's changed now to narrow.
