For years I used hotdog pro. Really nice. Then a couple of years ago, the company stopped making / improving the product. The site was www.sausage.com.
The product was an easy 9.5 on a scale of 1 to 10.
The founder was a cofounder of sitepoint.
Anyway, a couple of months ago I had a virus and did a low level format and a bunch of things that took away the small, very effective graphics editor that came with hotdog pro (back in release 4 or 5).
I had no backup.
Can someone recommend an inexpensive graphics tool? What tool do you use?
Krita is good and free and easy, but it Linux-only (well, experimental builds for Windows)
Photoshop Elements is good and easy if you like Photoshop, but costs a little money
Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 is good and easy of you like Photoshop, and is pretty cheap
A lot of people report that Adobe Fireworks is good. Not sure of cost though.
It may also depend a bit on what sort of 'graphics' you mean.
For example, Inkscape is excellent and free and easy, but it is vector, not raster. (most others I've mentioned are mostly raster, even though they may have some vector features like paths and shapes).
