How do I verify my site (I am a seller with an auction listed)

When I download the text to place in my root directory, it comes out as this string of characters, but it is not in any .txt format or anything like that..can anyone help with this please?

The verification page tells you what the file name should be. The long string of characters is the contents of the file, not the file name.

i see. i am not the programmer of the site, just the owner, so i'm not sure how it works. i just sent the verification page details to my developer. thanks!
