    postgresql: sending emails

Can postgreSQL, which has triggers, based on an update/delete/insertion send an email via pop3? or can it do any other sort of "messaging"?
    thanks!

Since a postgresql function can be an external c file, compiled - then the answer is yes.

If you have "Practical Postgres" check out the seciton on Advanced Features (p. 293) to see how to use c functions.

    If you don't have it - it's a worthwhile investment - isbn: 1-56592-846-6.
If you're not that well-off right now - i'm sure you
    can find it online.

I don't know it can be done - but it would make sense.
    Hope this helps.
