    Editting details of MP3 files

    Hi all,

I have just bought a MP3 player and it displays quite a bit of the details from each MP3 file (if you right click on a .mp3 file and then select the 'details' tab you will see the details I would like to edit - some of these are what gets displayed by MP3).

Does anyone know how I can edit these?

    Thanks

Im not 100% sure what details you are talking about but you can edit mp3 tag information with a tool like
    easytag

I think pretty much any player program (i.e. Winamp) can do it. In Vista you can edit them right under the details (but I guess you're not on Vista).

Thanks, this looks like exactly what I need

I had to download some GTK Framework though, is this safe, as my Windows Explorer crashed when I was browsing my files shortly after.

Yeah, I am on XP. I have had a quick look on Windows Media Player, but I cant see any way of editing the tags information in this.

Its safe. One of the main benefits of opensource is peer review. So bugs get found and fixed quicker.

    open winamp
    select
    alt+ 3

    insert your own info.

and just a quick tip, if you want to show your file name in playlist instead of tags, go to - options - preferences- input - select mp3 audio decoder - remove check on read idv tags.
