    Exclamation Word Funk!

Have you ever been in that situation where a word just throws you sideways for a moment or two? The ones where you're not quite sure you spelt correctly, while your mind is saying to you: "this is correct! We have typed and written it this way for years!" - yet, just percieving it a different way causes you to think again?

My word for today is: very.

Stupid word, oddly spelt. That's how I feel about this word today.

Add your word-funks to this thread!

Left - I don't know why, but it just doesn't look right.

Receipt. That "p" always bothers me somewhat. Why on earth is it there?

I don't have any particular word right now, but I find this happens every time I type out a word, then test that same word with all my fonts to see which font I would like to use for something. After about 10 fonts, the word I used starts to look like its from some foreign language, and just seems weird.

I absolutely hate the word, "necessary" ... Its spelling defies logic in my opinion.

    Edit:

And I'll never understand why beautiful is spelt the way it is...

Most words in English don't make any sense. I don't even know where to start. Its non-phonetic nature is as absurd as the hieroglyphs of some east-asian languages.

Hmm... let's pick annihilation for the day.

I find it ironic that the word dyslexic is so awkward to spell.
(Also that the word lisp contains an 's', but that's another issue.)

    thorough - borough
    drought - plough

    They're the same sounds.

Yeah, gauge is a weird one, throws me off too.

    Oh and: quay (pronounced "key")
