Migrating an HTML website to Joomla

    Hello,

I am trying to migrate an old website to Joomla! and I need a piece of advice.

The old site has all the different html pages dumped in the root directory. To put a little bit of order in the different pages and sections of the website, the new joomla site will have a more structured url hierarchy.

The problem that I am facing is that a substantial amount of traffic to the old site is coming from natural search engines results and of course I don't want to lose that traffic.

Is there a way to redirect the traffic to the old pages to the equivalent Joomla pages?

I was thinking about creating several html files with the old html file name containing a redirect to the new joomla page.

Is there a better way to do this?

    Let me know

    Cheers

    Google 301 redirects.

That's how you want to do it for SEO purposes.

Thanks, that is exactly what I needed.
A change into .htaccess file in order to create the redirects :-)
