bought a domain name through escrow. protections against scam?

i just bought a domain name through escrow [] com. ($xxx, so its a lot of money for me).

what are some ways to protect myself against scams? can the seller somehow take back the domain name after transferring (by like saying that i stole his domain name or something)?

any tips would be helpful. thanks.

Surely the whole point in buying through a third party is that the third party acts as an independent witness to the transaction and would therefore be able to verify theat you made the purchase.

By reputation, there ARE escrow companies which are a part of the scam. If you choose your own, that minimizes the likelihood that you'll pick a co-conspirator.

By using a third party escrow service, you have someone who can verify that you paid for the site. Given that, it is unlikely that a seller could unilaterally convince a registrar to revert a completed transaction. Not impossible, but unlikely. That is why people use escrows.

I didn't say that there weren't - just that the purpose in using one is to have an independent third party.

As you point out - the one potential problem area is if they turn out to not be independent.

You should have used either Escrow,com, DnsEscrow,com or Moniker escrow to safe guard yourself from scams.. Other then that I dont think there'll be any problem after transacting via escrow service!!

I think escrow is safe.
Never use paypal for such deals, as you are with escrow i don't think it can create a big problem or some sort of SCAM for you
