Quoting pages from a book into my web site
If I want to quote, or refernce, some passages from a book, word for word, if I reference the author and the name of the book, would there be any negative legal issues with doing so?
Thanks

Generally, a few sentences is acceptable if credit is given, but lot entire pages, or several paragraphs.

Yes, a few sentences are typically fine so long as you provide information about where the quote came from. More than that and you'll start making the owners very unhappy

You are generally allowed to quote a passage or small amount of content from a book, as long as you cite your sources properly and often it is worth getting written consent from the author if you intend distributing anything which contains the quote (just for your own protection and out of courtesy to the author), most authors are happy for people to quote their work, as long as you don’t plagiarise or snatch entire lumps of the content.
