Software for reporting Traffic by Port on a Router

Can anyone suggest software that could read the log on a rackmount Dlink router to report on bandwidth use per port?

I wonder how often do you need to check that on the each port?

Does the router not have SNMP? If it needed to actually login and read a log file then I think you may struggle.

Really depends on the capabilities of the router, but SNMP is probably the way to go.
