    questions on validation error

    Hi,

    Two questions:

    1. I got this error while validating my code:

    Line 52, Column 7: end tag for "div" omitted, but OMITTAG NO was specified

    </body>

    You may have neglected to close an element, or perhaps you meant to "self-close" an element, that is, ending it with "/>" instead of ">".
    The <body> tag is closed though... How could I fix this error?

    2. Pretty much the same thing happened with a form tag. I had a </form> tag at the end of my form, I replaced it with a <form name="" ... /> self-closing tag and it passed validation... Could you please explain to me this issue, as well as its resolution?

    For those who usually can't help, please no rolleyes smileys, rant about the purity of mark-up and the likes. I'm here to learn.

    Regards,

    -jj.

    That message says the end tag for DIV omitted, so check through your source code for a DIV tag which was not closed.

    It means you have one more <div> tag than you have </div> tags.

    You need to find which div you forgot to close, and insert the </div> in the appropriate place.

    thanks for your replies

    Is the meaning the same for the <form> tag? I am positive there is only one form on the page, with only one <form> tag, and a closing </form> tag after the fields.

    Well it depends on the error you recieved, but if you check your source code you will find out what you failed to close.
