    web hosting advice

    Hi

I am new to web hosting & am currently posting my first site. Is there any free web-hosts. If not which offer the best value?

    Thanks

    Glenn

I would not recommend going with a free host if you want reliable uptime and good support. The only free host I've used in the past was pretty decent. Officelive.com.

Free hosts have many cons and very few pros

    Pros:
    Free

    Cons:
    Bad uptime
May be gone tommrow(less risk with paid)and they delete your info
    Probably not the best spport
Ads of some sort. (or they have y ou post in there forum.

Shared hosting is cheap enough $2.95ish a month is a good price and is worth not having the hassle IMHO

    Thanks for the advice.

I checked out doteasy & it looks good. I have also been recommended 1&1.

it is more expensive but I am told they have very good customer support and at the end of the day you pay for what you get!

    Any feedback on 1&1 anyone?

    Glenn

A simple search in google or forums like sitepoint and WHT will provide you enough reviews.

The agree, do a search. You won't be happy with what you see... Try to stay away from people listed on the top 10 of review sites. I say this since most are just filled with affiate links.

freewht.com and freewebspace.net/forums would be forums that really focus on "free hosting". The only free host I recall of using would be Netfirms. It was a really basic account, but it did the job.

If you need to learn web host free web hosting that is very good idea. At the same time I would not recommend you do serious steps with free web hosting. I can recommend you have a look at 7host.com. They have free web hosting service and also they give you possibility for the growth. If you need to uopdate you will be able to move on the paid web hosting.
    Good luck with your research

Free hosting is a good place to start to understand the basic mechanics of website implementation, but not for a serious website. Since they are free, try several. Don't think I saw these lists posted: freewebsiteproviders, free-webhosts. Also, the domain name will not be your own, but something like mysite . freehost . com, which is actually good, because you don't really want to use valuable domain name with a free host.
