Need some help on this look....

hello, i'm hoping someone with more photoshop experience than myself can lend a hand. i'm trying to reproduce the "stamped" look thats used in this logo

the part i'm trying to make is the "with children" section.....the rectangle has a broken up stamped look, as well as the text inside it. is there a tutorial to do this, or maybe even a filter i could use? i appreciate all your help!

I think the stencil font goes a long way in delivering the effect.

I tried this thing where I added noise, used 'stamp' and then subtracted the resulting blobs from the text/box. That worked ok. Then I tried just going at it with various hard-edge pencil-style brushes... also looked ok. Maybe my standards are just low .

Its not a very hard graphic to do. Did you search the net for the actual logo.

i don't have much problem creating the text portion, as there are tons of fonts that will give a similar effect....its the treatment to the rectangle that has me stumped...

Create the rectangle as a layer in photoshop.

Create a mask for it

Select the airbrush with the appropriate brushsize.

Use the dissolve option

and then simply start erasing bits of the rectangle in the mask layer to acheive the desired effect.

Or if you have that font, cut up the letter 'o' into 4 quarters and join then all up with some straight letter like I or L (requres a bit of hacking, but will probably match the font more)

In Fireworks you can set the stroke to be like that. I don't the name of the stroke. I know you can though.

These stamps are available as part of most Art Explosion clipart sets. While the exact message may be different, you can either substitute with a font or mix & match from multiple clipart files.

There's no need to even buy the art, it seems to be the most used set on the market. Go to any local newspaper or design studio and pay them a few bucks to look through a clipart book and burn the vector art to a CD, or have it e-mailed to you. You'll find the look pretty much exactly alike, and there will be a need for very little Photoshop editing.

It will only take a few minutes to do this effect in photoshop.

Why go to all the trouble you mentioned.
