    Are you watching Red Dwarf?

Ok for those not living in the UK, this is not relevant but for those who are:

Have you been watching the new episodes of Red Dwarf? I have to admit to living under a rock because I only caught wind of this when someone mentioned it on twitter

Do you think they are setting this up as a prequel to another series?! The thought had crossed my mind and I was wondering...

Still it was great to see them revive the show - even if it was just for a 3 parter!

NO, but what do you mean? Is a new three parter? The one called 'Back to earth?'.

What channel is it on? And sorry for all the questions.

Excuse me, but Red Dwarf is watched in other countries too... that doesn't mean that I have watched any single episode so it is more than unlikely that I have watched the new ones (of course, I haven't and I didn't have a clue that there was any)

but as the question is about a new series (9?) which probably hasn't got outside the UK yet (at least I hadn't come across it before now) the question is only really able to be answered by those in the UK.

Question for those who have seen it - did they get Robert out of the scrapyard and back into the silly droid suit for the new series?

    spence_noodle, Yes new episodes, I think a 3 parter (+1 documentary making-of show), and has been showing at 9pm on "Dave" ( Sky 111 //Virgin 128 // Freeview 19 ) the past two nights...

Molona, yes see what stephen says, they are new episodes- the series ran for 8 I think and stopped a good few years ago. They were trying to get a film off thr ground at one point.

Stephen, Yes, all four of them were back. Looking remarkably similar to thier original characters. Not all the dialog is as snappy as it was in the series though, but still a decent effort. The gags were pretty good however, just like old times.

I didn't know Red Dwarf was so popular around the globe! I suppose people have read the books too perhaps?

Series 8 came out in 1999. We have copies of all 8 series mostly on VHS with I think one season on DVD. Robert was appearing on ABC2 here quite a lot earlier in the year with scrapyard challenge/scrappy races showing early evening Mon-Fri and Red Dwarf an hour or so later on Tuesdays as well as a couple of times on the weekend.

I don't watch red dwarf but felgall you are kind of behind on the times... Scrapheap challenge finished with its final episode earlier in the year. The reason for this was the people who run the show wanted to make some changes to the format, Robert wanted to do some other projects and Lisa had her baby so she wanted to take time out. Therefore they decided to end the current format and relaunch the show... possibly with regular expert Dick Strawbridge being in charge (might be quite funny). I heard Robert talking to Leo Laporte on an episode of Macbreak weekly (as a guest) and he was talking about the new series of red dwarf and how there were no current plans for anything apart from the new episodes in the short season.

British shows often run quite a way behind their original broadcast here in Australia. They only just finished showing series 10 of Scrapheap on ABC2 a few weeks ago and nothing was said about whether there was going to be a futher series or not. I do remember them showing an anniversary show at the start of the series which was the first indication that they gave here in Australia to my knowledge that it was actually series 10 and not series 2 since I don't believe they ever showed any of the first 8 series here (unless that's what they are currently showing early on Saturday morning). Of course with ABC2 beiong one of the new digital only channels they may have shown the earlier series before we acquired a settop box.

I think it works the other way around too, people forget that home and away and neighbours used to show on UK tv, years behind the episodes running in Australia.

Dam I missed it. I knew it was world wide due to the BBC. We all know Robert is in Scrapheap Challenge (a brilliant program) but don't forget Craig Charles (Lister) is currently staring in Corronation Street.

Just had a look at the official website and they are showing episode three on Dave tonight.

Actually, I think people forget because soaps seem to be the only thing that come out of aussieland to british shores these days (in terms of tv). Well unless you count those classic old reruns of skippy

Alex, I think you're right- can't think of many Auzzie TV shows apart from those two that do show over here. I might be wrong??

Well only 50 mins until the final (very very final?) episode. Hope you all enjoy (those in the UK- for those not, I hope you get it soon and enjoy it)
