I purchased a .tel from Dotster and was told that you can not set-up an email address for .tel it is strictly for displaying contact and or business information.

But if you find out different please let me know.

A .tel domain doesn't have any web hosting attached at all and only has the space for the contact info it is intended for so none of the regular things you can get with hosting can be applied to a .tel domain.

    Thanks Stephen.

I think telnic will add more functions to .tel domain step by step.

That would defeat the purpose of the .tel TLD completely. The whole point of it is to provide for those people who just need a single contact details page rather than a whole web site. For those that need more than just a contact page there are all the other existing TLDs available to meet their requirements.

That is what makes this TLD so different from all the others. And unless telnic adds more features built into their system, not much can be done with owning these names - aside from having another way of people finding your contact details. That's all it's meant to be.

And hence why it's a useless TLD for most domain speculators...

Pretty much, unless they loosen up and let owners have more control in how it can be utilized.

The domains are intended for those who want to put their contact details on the web who don't have a web site. Only that group of people will get any benefit from the domains. If you want anything else other than a contact page then you'd get a regular domain and hosting that allows you to set up everything you want.
