poor things ... finally i get a chance to watch the World Cup at earthly hours... the germany match was at 730pm... this does mean, though, that i can't catch weekday matches shown in the day (230pm-530pm) 'live' ... there's always a repeat telecast though

    Fulltime results for Day 3:
    Argentina 1-0 Nigeria
    Paraguay 2-2 South Africa
    England 1-1 Sweden
    Spain 3-1 Slovenia

    Argentina looked particularly impressive...

It's really funny, we are postponing our university lectures just to watch the German team play.
And for the match against Cameroon, this suggestion was made by one of our professors.

I hope that Germany will beat Ireland, though.
    My guess 2:1.

did anyone see Rivaldo yesterday , claim the Ball hit him in the face when clearly it hit him on his thigh, it was shocking such a great player , why does he have to do that , he ought to be thrown out the World Cup i think

Both refs are pathetic. Esp. in Turkey vs. Brazil. Both Turks deserved to be sent off, but that foul was far away from a pen. kick not to mention that pathetic action when the ref whistled foul for Brazil, 5 or 6 Brazilians went to the ref and asked him to book the Turk. The ref thought about it for about 20 seconds and finaly gave up in front of the Brazilians by booking the Turk. PATHETIC! And Blatter is asking for fair play! The most corrupted man to ever lead FIFA!

The smaller teams/countries are sistematically stolen.

Seeing Japan vs. Belgium, there was another huge ref mistake at the third goal of the Japs, when Inamoto suposedly fouled a Belgian defender and then scored, but that was nowhere near a foul. It should have ended 3-2 for the Japs.

Great performance by South Korea though. They have some nice players.

I dont think the last turkish player should of been sent off. The offence was bookable etc. But it was right at the end of the game the ref should of just blown it up instead.

    BTW

If you type "Country X will win the world cup" dont kid yourself, the only possible way your country can win is if you do it like this

    IRELAND FOR THE WORLD CUP!

    See what I mean ?

    Hard luck Germany

I dont get to see the game its on during my exams!!!

Just back to work after the Queen's Jubilee bank holiday. A mostly great weekend of footy.

I didn't see the Ireland game, it was too early for me. The German's, looked good, but not great. I think the Saudi's were very poor.

Uterly abysmal performance by England. Average 1st half, absolute rank second half. I realise Beckham is short of match fitness, I'll let him off. But what about Owen??? He was no where. Why the hell was Vassel brought off? He was causing the Swede's problems. Better buck our ideas up on Friday, or we'll be going home.

Brazil looked great going forward, Ronaldo looks sharp again. As for Rivaldo, there's no place for that kind of thing in the game. Send him home.

Italy look good, and are still my pick for the cup. Good old Vieiri.

South Korea completely hammered Poland. Poland were the 1st European team to qualify (except France), and they were ripped apart.

In a game that featured 1 average, and 1 poor team this morning, Russia beat Tunisia 2-0.

And currently USA lead Portugal 1-0. John O'Brien the scorer.

Alleged quote from Roberto Carlos of Brazil.

"Many people think Rivaldo's attitude was incorrect. In my opinion, it wasn't. I myself have simulated many fouls and penalties that the referee called.

"It's moves like that that can make you world champions. You have to be intelligent. Brazilians have always managed to get other players sent off using their intelligence."

    Tosser......

Mind you if Michael Owen can get away with it on Friday I won't complain.
