lol Have you told Keane this plan yet?

    England 2 - Cameroon 2

I guess it was a training match at the end of the day but Sven ain't filling many of us England fans with confidence! Perhaps their injuries are all a ploy like sbdi says about the Irish squad

What's this I hear about Zidane picking up an injury during France's friendly with South Korea? Is t serious? Is he in, out or unsure? It would be a shame for such a great player to miss the World Cup but a godsend for any unfortunates (i.e. England 2nd round) who meet them.

That isn't an impossible dream redemption. In fact I think it's quite plausible.

Don't know if Roy will be going back. Seems remote at this stage but we don't know what's going on behind the scenes. Bertie (our Taoisach/Prime Minister) is even trying to get it sorted out as he's a huge Ireland and Manchester United fan.

BTW That was a disgraceful tackle on Jason McAteer at the weekend!! That guy shoulda got a red card. He completely took the player and Jason's lucky to get away with just bruising.

There's no way Keane will go back to the World Cup. There's more chance of England winning the tournement

Yes, Zidane is injured. Last I heard he had strained his thigh, and it was likely that he would miss the Senegal game.

    You might be right sbdi

Just heard that Keane is to make a statement on Irish TV at 6pm tonight to apologise and possibly ask for his place back

It wasn't so much of an apology but an explanation. He's still left the option open to be recalled. That's a difficult decision for McCarthy to make now.

Ok so my plan has been set back a bit. The Irish squad dont want Keane back. My opinion when this all started was that Micko was right to send Keane home but after hearing Keanes side of the story you gotta feel sorry for him. Although he did deserve to get sent home for the way he talked to the manager it was set up.

Come on a press confernence 15 mins after the event is a bit sus

Some of the players don't want him back. This wouldn't have been a unilateral decision. There's another press conference at the moment.

From watching the interview last night I have to say that I'm 70% with Roy and 30% with Mick. Mick should not have accused Roy of faking an injury for the Iranian game. You DO NOT question the commitment of any player in your side in front of their fellow teammates let alone your captain! Time will tell but the Irish people are 97% behind Roy Keane at this stage according to the lastest poll.

Also, you do not call your manager an English (4 letter swear word).

Roy Keane is not bigger than the team.

Not but he's the best player we have and also the most committed Irish player you will ever see. He NEVER gives up. He's that committed. If I was Roy and someone called into question whether I faked an injury in front of my teammates I'd certainly lose the head.

I'm aware of how committed Roy Keane is (didn't stop us winning the double though, ha ha!!).

If McCarthy though Keane was faking an injury, than he has the right to query him. McCarthy has to what he think is right by the team, and if he thinks Keane isn't giving 100%, then he has every right to question him. Although doing it infront of his team mates wasn't wise.

McCarthy had talked to Alex Ferguson and they had agreed that it was best for him not to play that match!! McCarthy knew he was injured.

Well, I've put my view across. We could go on all day, but either way Keane is at home. You've lost your best player, but you're not the only country having problems.

England - Maybe no Beckham. Certainly no Gerrard
France - Zidane out for 1st, probably all group games.
    Germany - Diesler out
    Portugal - Doubts over Figo
    Spain - Morientes injured
Slovakia - Zahovic taken to hospital
Russia - Mostavoi racing to get fit
Italy - Inzaghi out of 1st game
Sweden - Ljungberg and Meljberg fighting

That's a lot of teams with problems with vital players

Hmmm. Somethings going on at the moment. There are rumblings behind the scenes in the Roy Keane saga. I can feel a distribance in the force.

I agree with the issues that Keane has raised, but the way he handled it was infantile. Yes, Mick McCarthy shouldn't have spoken to Keane in front of the squad like that.
But, which was a million times worse, Roy Keane went and slagged off the whole Irish set-up in front of the whole world, via the media. If he's happy to rip into the set-up through the press, and runs blabbing to them every time he doesn't like something, he shouldn't have any complaints whatsoever about what is said in a closed room of 25 people. By his standards that's a tete-a-tete.
It's his own stupid fault, and I say that as a Man United fan.

If you knew what the Irish setup is actually like and how amateurish the FAI really are then you'd understand.

Oh, I do understand, I agree with the the points he's made about that but like I say, if you run blabbing to the press, and then complain that Mick McCarthy should have handled things privately then it's a case of pot and kettle.

Keane put out a statment saying he wasnt going to the world cup as he felt the damage had been done.

Fine fine he isnt going but I dont get the whole "oh dear god" attitude with the Irish press. Keane is a great player but 1 player didnt get us to the world cup. Duff and Robbie Keane will run rings around everyone and given is playing fairly good this season.

We will still win pity Roy isnt there, he sounded really upset when he gave that TV interview the other day.

I hope McArthy gets the sack he is a *****
