Textbox background gradient

Is there a way to get a colored gradient in a textbox without the use of an image? I can't find anything on the net stating that this is possible. An image would make the page heavy on a larger web form.

Any gradiant needs an image .

It depends how big the element is, and how fancy of a gradient you want.

Here's a great article by Douglas Bowman of stopdesign about creating the new GMail buttons without using images: http://stopdesign.com/archive/2009/0...he-button.html

However most larger and typical web gradients you will not be able to recreate without an image.
