I'm hosting a few small sites with Host Gator on a shared platform. One of them is a forum which is gradually gaining quite some traffic but still experiencing a constant server speed. I've been hosting with them for about 4 months now. Never had a problem.

I never used hostgator, but some said it's reliable and they have been promoting heavily recently.

We have a number of websites hosted with Host Gator. We have several of their dedicated servers, reseller plans, and regular plans. In general, they provide great support. However, you must open a support ticket on their website (i.e., you cannot phone tech support directly and chat is of limited help). This can be very frustrating because you never know how long it will take support to fix the issue. Typically, they will solve problems within a few hours. However, we had one website that took them 2 days to fix (they had caused the problem when transferring cpanel for us).

Nonetheless, of all hosting companies that we have used, Host Gator has been the best by far.

Double check with the HG sales team, they may be able to still take on your site depending on what it is and the resources it will use. They definitely host sites that have 500+ uniques/day there

I use hostgator and think they are really good. They came highly recommended to me so I tried them. They're quick with customer service and really professional.

I have heard of a lot of good experiences with HostGator's shared hosting. I am not sure about their reseller accounts or dedicated servers...

I used HostGator for a few months and they were very good, I never had a problem with them. I eventually switched to something else mostly because I despise CPanel :P I think you'll be happy with them, definately worth the price for shared.

If you want to run small websites then I will recommend you to read this Hub { http://hubpages.com/hub/web-host-reviews }. It will really help you to get your answers. Also, you can purchase this hosting services from direct from that hub because from there you will get a good discount.

I've been a HG customer for about 3 months now. No issues. Which doesn't really mean anything, though, since you only really tell if a host is good after you HAVE issues. But so far, so good

    here's my experience:

I have had Hostgator for a web host since 2006... I moved my biggest site to them when it was in its early stages, getting a couple thousand visitors per day. I progressed up through their packages at my site traffic grew, eventually getting onto their most powerful server package. Unfortunately even it wasn't enough. Earlier this year they switched me to a new plan with less bandwidth than I needed. So of course the following month I exceeded bandwidth, to the tune of $2200 worth! When they had signed me up for the new plan, I didn't pay enough attention to the bandwidth limitations. however, I feel it should have been explained more clearly to me.

So they shut down my site and locked me out until I agreed to pay $1300. However, by that point I was unhappy with the support - couldn't talk about it on the phone and had to rely on email. So I moved the site over to one of my servers at LiquidWeb, which was a VERY smart move. Their service is MUCH better and you can talk to the techs on the phone until the problem is resolved.

Anyway, I'm not saying HG is bad. I still have a ded server with them. But if you have a big site, there are much better options out there.

I wrote a review on Hostgator a while back. It seems that many people have a love-or-hate relationship with them, but as for me, I've been hosting with them for over 3 years now and have not had a single problem (knock on wood). My server uptime has been excellent, any questions I have had to email them with have been answered satisfactorily and quickly, their prices are very competitive, and the company seems very stable. I would definitely recommend them.
