Welcome to the board. Sorry I don't have any direct experience with them. But from reviews I could find that they seems to be good if you have simple sites to host. Just search for reviews here and in webhostingtalk. There are lots of reviews regarding hostgator. Hope this helps.

    Hostgator is a reliable company

May i suggest that you try some smaller Reseller/Hosting company to get more personalized service who are more than willing to answer even the smallest question with quick responses.

Some hosts you can check out their uptime, speed test etc to ck out servers reliablility.

I host several small sites. Total of 500-1000 page views daily between them, just so you know the amount of traffic I get, most to a Joomla based site. Things go smoothly most of the time, with an uptime estimate of roughly 99.9% on a yearly basis. Some months are better, some are perfect, some take the average to where it is.

Rarely needed support, and when I do, it's usually for the harder than average stuff, that takes a while to pinpoint - usually something wrong with the server's configuration after some software upgrade.

I host several small sites on Hostgator. I've been there for several years and have not had any problems. I've only submitted one ticket and got a swift response. My sites are not complicated so I don't run into a lot of problems.

Hostgator has an active and supportive user-to-user forum. I really appreciate that. There are some subforums open to the public, for full forum access you need to have signed up. You can post some of the details of your sites in the public forums there and see if any of the forum users see any potential problems.

Host Gator is the best shared host. But it is not too good for dedicated server hosting.

I've had a good experience running some basic sites with hostgator, nothing too complex. Try out their services, they have a 30 day money back guarantee as well so you can test them out

I think HG is good for shared but also godaddy is kinda up there.. i suggest godaddy. I interviewed with HG and found the company all Topsy turvey but that doesnt have anything to do with hosting.

    I would recommend godaddy.

    Thumbs up

    Hey amy61!

I have been with hostgator for three years now and can tell you I am very satisfied with them. I also tried Ipower, Bluehost, IX and others. But i stick with HG because they are really the best.

Is it good for several small sites?

You bet. I have about 10 sites: joomla based, wordpress blogs and some static HTML pages.

I never had problems. When I needed support they were there for me. They helped me to set MX settings when I transfered my email to Google Hosted Mail in just a few minutes.

So you can rest assure your sites will be doing ok with them.

    Good luck with your site.

They are big and they indeed have lots of the customers. They have mostly positive reviews and in this sense I have to say that they have some negative reviews as well. But that does not mean they are bad.

Host Gator I personally would like to try, however, at the moment I am for the Dreamhost's $97 off promo for the first year subscription, and so far it's really good. If there were a second option, it would be Host Gator for me.

You'll get both good or bad reviews about them. If you believe it meet all your requirements, and good fair pricing then go for it. Overall, I have heard more good reviews about them.

HostGator is one of those hosts where I have heard of more positive reviews compared to negative ones. As far as I know, HG is one of the more reliable hosts out there. Support is good, but not great.

Host gator is excellent to host many websites in one account. So you can take them in a positive note. Just buy a single hosting package and host as many domains as you need. Thats it. Done

if you have a big site with 500+ unique hits a day , it might suck

if you just have it up for personal use like a picture album for family then yes it's the best cost-efficient option for you
