Steps to buying and transferring a domain from someone

Hey,

I'm looking at purchasing a domain name from someone and I'm wondering what steps i should take to avoid being scammed in any way.

I search google and this forum but nothing really came up for the best methods in dealing with purchasing a domain from someone. I read a forum post here which talked about transferring a domain to the new owner but then funds weren't accepted and they lost out on payment + had a lot of hassle trying to resolve the issue. Of course the opposite could happen, where i pay but they never transfer the domain.

Should i put a contract in place?

Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks

try use escrow if you are paying thousands for a domain

I would recommend do that through the brockers. Like SEDO and other ones. I believe that should be the best way to go for you.
