    image search

Does anyone know if there is a search engine somewhere, that you can upload an image and it searches the internet for similar images?

That would require a tremendous amount of processing power to say the least.

At this point, I've never heard of anything like that.

    I have....

There was a japanese site mentioned on the sitepoint forums not so long ago which allowed you to do this, but it was in alpha and wasn't 100% accurate - but was pretty damn good.

    I'm afraid I can't find it

If I recall correctly, it was a site for proof of concept, and as such wasn't much of a search-engine. It used a few thousand stock photos rather than crawling sites.

    The search goes on!!!

I think a feature like that could be very useful, theres been several times when I would have an image of something and want to find out information about it and they only thing I could do was describe the image in Google and hope for results. I would try to build something like that but it's far beyond the scope of my skills.

Cool. Although I think it would be better if it analyzed the pixels and found a match based on that.

I've looked for a site like this also. I'd swear I'd read a blurb about one in a magazine. But I can't find any that work well...
