I wanted to post a follow up to this earlier thread.
Despite her concerns about using the "wrong language", my client had to get the site up for a conference, so she decided she would just deal with the embarrassment for now
As part of our pre-rollout preparations, my client hired a third-party company to do testing on the site. I ended up with a very short list of bugs, only one significant (if obscure). Even so, I was raked over the coals for each report that appeared on the tracker, but I sort of anticipated it by then.
What I didn't expect was what happened last Friday.
My client called and said, "you need to hear this." She then read me a letter from the testing firm where they raved about both the site and my responsiveness and talent (). Wow! I was stunned.
She also apologized about the previous mess (apparently, there was something going on with her mother at the same time as well). Jokingly, I asked if this made up for the tongue-lashing at the party. She said, "you're never going to let me forget that now, are you?" I told her hell no, and we both laughed.
So, vindication and praise by an impartial third-party...and an apology from the client. Whoa. And this couldn't have come at a better time, since the payment is due at the end of the month! I'm still in shock, but...WHOO-HOO!!!!!![]()

Thank you all! I couldn't have done pulled something like this off without all of the help and information I've found on SitePoint!
