3rd year in a row, PWN2OWN Mac fell first.

PWN2OWN 2009 once again Safari fell first in just a few minutes/seconds. This happen last year in PWN2OWN 2008. QuickTime helped PWN2OWN 2007 winner to get the grand prize. I really don't think this is very good publicity for Apple.

Anyways, security is not something to be taken lightly on any platform.

And it seems shortly after posting IE 8 on Windows 7 finally fell. Along with Safari again.

There's a simple solution(s): Firefox and Opera. I never touched IE after installing Firefox and Opera on my PC, and they remained my default browsers after I upgraded to a Mac. I probably should have listed Chrome, too, but I don't think Google has released a Mac version yet.

You are still not safe regardless. Security can not be solved by a single solution or application. Protection can only be achieve via multiple layers of security. Firefox, Opera, <insert any app here> all have security vulnerabilities, and all can be used as a weapon. Even with multiple layers there is no 100% protection. Those layers only make it far more difficult.

Well it is official. Safari (twice), IE 8, and Firefox all fell. And this is only day one!

Today's first day of Pwn2Own contest is now officially over, and we can report all mobile devices are still left standing unscathed. The browsers did not fare so well however. Between two winning contestants, they were able to compromise Safari (twice), IE8, and Firefox.
