looking for some low energy CMS options

are there any new products and services out there that let you prototype simple websites quickly, and assign a custom domain to them? the second question is in case i'm talking about some sort of online editing system.

i know about cushycms which seems to be the best for very simple websites at the moment. as well you can embed twitter and blogger(ok i dont think you can embed blogger?) to alleviate having to develop a blog as another step to reduce development time.

    i'm curious what's out there?

Squarespace looks cool, but pricing for custom domain starts at $170/year

Wordpress is good but can get out of hand quickly in my opinion. I'm trying to avoid CMSs of that detail for these projects.

    Thanks though!

I'm not sure if this is exactly what your looking for, but I use CMS Builder by Interactive Tools for more than half my projects and it works fantastically for clients.

Excuse the very basic question - I'm completely new to cms but looking to be able to offer the service - do you need much technical ability for Wordpress? ie does it require php programming or anything?

Also does it offer you design flexibility for websites? - I'm currently using Expression, which enables me to offer clients whateve designs I can dream up, but no cms.

You might want to give Concrete5 a try if you're looking for open source. It seems pretty flexible, and I like the edit-on-page stuff. Seems like a more basic open source competitor to Javelin.
