JK Rowling, the Harry Potter author, was reported about a year ago to be earning £5 a second. Probably not any more, but at the time I thought that was pretty incredible.
That's something I didn't know. Quite amazing for an author.
As you say, it's not likely a constant earning figure. Perhaps those figures came from back when one of the recent books was released. That's when I'd presume her earnings start going orbital..

I wouldn't be suprised, I'm actually surprised it's not higher!, and look at the first, the second, and the third: 691, 607, and then 228! Then the seventh is 60!
They should get more than that.
