I personally only use rel=nofollow on a client website when I am linking to a corporate / public web tool of some sort.

    Google Maps
    London Travel Information
    Big Mega Search Engines
    W3C Validators

But anything else, I avoid rel=nofollow.

One way of interpreting the rel=nofollow would be:
"Hey Google, do NOT follow this link. It's NOT particularly interesting y'know ..."

Soooo I don't need to worry about putting rel="nofollow" on link backs to my website, eh?

I can put them on links to the W3C Validators though and thats good use of it, yes?

Also thanks for the link to the smashingmagazine website cooper.semantics. It was extremely helpful and insightful! =]

Ive been wondering what the difference between the two and noticed that some pay links require that they do a no follow and didnt think it would be worth paying for it.
