In order to save some money, I want to downgrade my host provider service to one of thier lowest priced packages. Unfortunately, that package doesn't support ASP. My question is - will I still be able to learn, develop, and save ASP applications on my home computer with my host provider's support? Furthermore, will I be able to save these applications on disk as part of an interactive resume/portfolio to show possible employers and/or clients?

    Thanks in advance.

All you need to run ASP at home is to install PWS or IIS (if you have an NT server)on your machine.

PWS is located on the Windows 98 and Windows 98 SE CD's in the tools directory.

For Windows 95 or Windows NT you have to use the NT Option Pack which can be downloaded from Microsoft's site or ordered on a CD from Microsoft for shipping and handling fees.

PWS also comes with Visual Interdev 6.0 and Visual Studio 6.0. The "server" that comes with Frontpage won't work.

You wont be able to save them on a disk and show your potential employers etc unless of course you bring your computer with you to the meeting, simply because the person you're showing it to probably doesn't have it set up on his computer. If you really want to do that get a laptop.

Another option is to get an account at a free ASP host like ewebcity.com for testing and demos.
