By my latest definition love in general is the exchange of virtues. The more virtues you share with a person the bigger the love and it appears to me that it is also directly related to the type of love (between friends, family, lovers, etc.)

Or in fact, there might actually not be any type of love. If you combine love between friends, family, etc. to one type, and the love between life partners to another, the only difference is that the latter is influenced by the fundamental human function of reproduction. It can only occur in certain relationships but it may not necessarily correlate with the amount of mutual virtues...

The more aspects you have in common with another person, the deeper the love is. The more you admire the virtues of a person, the greater the love. Sometimes you can love a person in spite of some of the things you do not like, because the overwhelmingly positive characteristics are negating the negatives.

In order to have a romantic love, a deep love with a partner, there have to be many agreements in the fundamentals -- axioms on which you base your thinking -- of how you view life. You can not love a person that you do not admire. If you think that you can love such a person, you call the emotion that you have love, but it is not, it is some kind of self-delusion, for whatever reason. The disenchantment will happen in a relationship such as that because the fundamentals are lacking.

I find the statement that one hears so often: "Opposites attract" a false one.

thats a real nice question...! love for me is a beautiful feeling, a responsibility & a nightmare!
love is beautiful feeling when i am with my husband and my son. a responsibility when i have to take care of two kids in the house (one big kid my hubby and other small kid my son) and a nightmare when son demands something weird or if i have a small tiff with husband!

Love is loving the "unlovable" (not lovable) , liking the "unlikable" and doing the "impossible".

love is somewhat undefinable in words, but unmistakable in emotional knowing.

You know you love someone when you accept them as they are, for who they are. You encourage and support their continued growth and never, at any point, think that they belong to you in any way - they just choose to be with you and as long as you give them the freedom to choose, they will likely stay Loving someone is loving them enough to let them do what makes them truly happy

    ...that's just what I think
